My bathroom really is tiny. What advice can you give me to make the use of all available space, and make the room look bigger?

Geoff Wells, bathroom planning expert for Dolphin Bathrooms, comments:

“It is not uncommon for the bathroom to be one of the smallest rooms in the home, and with en-suites becoming increasingly popular; space has to be used far more effectively. Use wall hung sanitary ware, cabinets, taps and towel rails to maximise space and create a streamlined finish. Consider space-saving solutions such as corner baths or sinks to make the most of an unused area of the room.

“Create the illusion of additional space with imaginative use of tiles and colour. Slim width tiles in blue, aqua or green run which from floor to ceiling make the room look higher and wider whilst natural or light coloured tiles help create the illusion of light; vertical blocks of tiles make the ceiling look higher and create the illusion of extra height, whilst mirrors reflect light into the room and open up the space further.”
